Robert and Karen Shearer

Hello, this is the home page for the Shearer's, from our home in Richmond, Vermont. The picture you see above was taken on July 2000 in Skagway, Alaska, a stop on our belated honeymoon cruise with  World Explorer Cruises.  In the background is a snow thrower for the railway.
Karen was a volunteer for  AmeriCorps*VISTA project, (which has a branch in Jim Wells County, Texas, where Robert was raised), for which she worked on the America Reads  program at the  Stern Center in Williston, Vermont, where she is now an employee. Her hobbies include reading, collecting antique miniatures and miniature teddy bears, ballroom dancing, and has also been known to strap on a pair of snowshoes for a little wintertime exploration.
Robert works for IBM in the Microelectronics division. He has finished his M.S. degree in Computer Science at the C.S. department of the University of Vermont. He has a number of hobbies, including fly fishing and fly tying, birding, computing, shortwave radio and scanning, and recently weather watching. He, too, has been known to snowshoe and cross-country ski. He keeps a web log, or "blog", called Beginner's Mind.
