What's Bag Tag?

Bag Tag is a basically a challenge ladder. The goal is to get and keep the lowest number tag you can. Tags are typically won and lost over an 18 hole round of golf. See the Do's and Dont's of Bag Tag below for the details.

How do I get my Tag?

The Bag Tag challenge is based on a calendar year. Your GMDGC Bag Tag is part of your annual membership package with the GMDGC. For more details on membership, go to the About GMDGC page.

Bag Tag Monthly

The GMDGC will be hosting 6 monthly tournaments for bag tag holders. Tournaments will take place at 2pm on first Sunday of each month (give or take) starting in May. The monthlies will be held at the Center Chains Disc Golf Course in Waterbury Center, VT. Come on out and defend your tag or try to ditch that #59 you've been carrying around for weeks.

Bag Tag Championship

New in 2008 - the GMDGC will be making a change to its annual point series. The Bag Tag Championship series is being replaced with the bigger and better Green Mountain Points Series (GMPS). The main difference is that the GMPS is not based on the results from the Bag Tag tourneys. Bag Tag tourneys are getting back their roots and will be loosely coordinated monthly events for players to compete for tags and maybe a couple of fun extras. The season long GMPS will be based on performance in 7 Vermont tournaments held through out the summer and geographically spread throughout the state.

Detailed Do's and Dont's of Bag Tag

Anyone with a higher tag number can challenge anyone with a lower tag number. Challenges can be made before any round of golf has started. If two or more people with tags are going to be playing a round of golf together anyway, the challenge can not be refused. The challenge can take place on any course and can involve any number of tag holders assuming everyone is playing the course at the same time. At the end of the round the tags are re-assigned to the golfers with the lowest score receiving the lowest number tag. In the event of a tie, the golfer with the lowest starting tag takes possession of the lowest tag available to the tied golfers.

Those are the basic rules of bag tag, but as long as the tag holders agree on the terms and conditions - tags can be wagered over just about any competition: CTPs, coin flips, Ro Sham Bo... just remember, its your tag, until you lose it!
