Cluster settings ...

  • Here is a technique which simplifies and reduces the cost of a very traditional job. Until now I have tended to use cadcam to enable far greater complexity without increasing costs.
  • Shown is an 'as milled' wax, complete with milled claws.
  • Sample castings without any fabrication inaccuracies to make the setting job extra interesting. Unless there were errors in the model...

Models

  • Perspective Rhino render of cluster for a 8 x 5 mm centre surronded by 3 to 4 pt stones
  • a very simple construction of geometrical shapes, easily adjusted for appearence and stone fit.
  • Quite an improvement over the traditional layout, drilling, soldering, sawing etc.
  • The final finishing filing mearly sharpens corners, the basic form is already nicely refined.

  • Re-use and re-cycle...
using the model above, shrink to fit 5.5 x 4 mm centre, and add another row of 3 pt stones
  • there is a little hand work left to do on the back, but not very much.
