Silver clip pens

  • Pens often have clips.
  • The clip has to be a hard spring. Normal procedure is to stamp and form from metal which has been worked hardened by rolling down. Great technique if you are making 10,000's with tooling costs shared, not so good for small quanities
  • My solution was to cast using Argentium sterling. This alloy will precipation harden far more than traditional sterling in spite of its slightly higher silver content. There is also a great deal of attention paid to the clips geometry for maximum stregnth
  • This particular pen has a frosted bead blasted silver finish
